Have you tried the warm sweet oil trick? Heat just a teaspoon of olive oil in a spoon (with a lighter or over a stove) until it's just warm (test with your nose-tip--it's more sensitive than most things) then pour it into your ear and plug with cotton. It's the most wonderful thing! (Obviously someone else will need to help you with this.)
No I've never tried that. I've got some medicine I'm using, it's kinda ear/sinus and makes me wish I was dead. And makes it look like I have a golf/baseball/softball (depending on swelling) on the side of my face.
I've been coming down with something for a couple of days, been feeling like poo. :(
